White Lotus Fromage: A Modern Mooncake

Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival

It is the second most important festival for the Chinese. It’s a special day because according to the Chinese. On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn. It is basically a celebration of the harvest during the autumn of the full moon.

Thankful for Moon Goddess

An important part of the festival celebration is moon worship. The ancient Chinese believed in rejuvenation being associated with the moon and water, and connected this concept to the menstruation of women, calling it “monthly water”. In this time, they do believe in saying thank you and praying to Moon Goddess, for luck and safety.

Gathering Time and Reunion

It is known too as a gathering time with your family or a reunion with your friends. Traditionally, they will be sitting at a big round table and feasting on various good foods! Big round tables symbolize togetherness, like a full moon. Coincidence? No! They like the togetherness and gathering 😍

Mooncake, More Than Just a Food

The mooncake is not just a food. It’s a profound cultural tradition deep in Chinese people’s hearts, symbolizing a spiritual feeling. At the Mid-Autumn Festival, people eat mooncakes together with family, or present mooncakes to relatives or friends, to express love and best wishes. The sweet sticky fillings inside, symbolize togetherness and stick together. As a hope having a Harmonious relationship, either family or friends.
